The Dead Sea Tooth Carp Conservation Program
The Dead Sea Tooth Carp (Aphanius Richardsoni) is a unique fish species that lives only in the springs adjacent to the Dead Sea. It is found nowhere else in the world, and is in grave danger of extinction because of habitat destruction. The Biblical Zoo has established a breeding nucleus in the Wet Side Story exhibit in an attempt to save the Dead Sea Tooth Carp from extinction. Efforts are also being made to reconstruct the fish’s natural habitat in Neot Hakikar region.
